Charlie has valley fever and is currently being treated but his stomach is rock hard and i’m not sure if it’s a side effect of his medicine or something else

A rock-hard stomach in dogs can indeed be a serious concern, potentially indicating conditions such as gastric dilation and volvulus (GDV), commonly known as bloat. This is a life-threatening emergency that requires immediate attention. Given that Charlie is currently being treated for valley fever, it's essential to determine whether this symptom is related to his medication or if it's an entirely different issue.
While medications for valley fever can sometimes cause gastrointestinal side effects, a hard stomach is not typically one of them. It's crucial to watch for other symptoms like vomiting, lethargy, or difficulty breathing, as these could suggest a more serious condition like GDV.
In this situation, I strongly advise you to take Charlie to a veterinarian right away. A hard stomach can indicate a blockage or other serious issues that need prompt medical attention. The veterinarian will likely conduct diagnostic tests, such as X-rays or an ultrasound, to identify the cause and provide the necessary treatment.
Please seek veterinary care as soon as possible to ensure Charlie receives the appropriate care. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask. Thank you.
