Her nail has grown into her paw, I have removed it but I’m not sure how to clean the wound. It is swollen but she is not limping

It sounds like your Shih Tzu has been through a bit of discomfort with her nail issue, but it's great that you've managed to remove it. Now, to ensure her paw heals properly and stays infection-free, there are a few steps you can take at home.
First, gently clean the wound using warm water and mild soap. Alternatively, you can rinse it with a saline solution, which is simply a mix of salt and water, to help remove any debris and bacteria.
Next, apply an antiseptic solution like diluted betadine or chlorhexidine to the area. It's best to avoid hydrogen peroxide or alcohol, as these can be too harsh and might delay the healing process.
Keep a close eye on the wound for any signs of infection, such as increased redness, swelling, or discharge. Given that the area is already swollen, monitoring it closely is important.
If your dog has a habit of licking the wound, you might want to use an Elizabethan collar, or cone, to prevent her from further irritating the area.
Also, try to keep the paw dry and clean. When she goes outside, you can cover it with a light bandage, but be sure to remove it indoors to let the wound breathe.
Since she isn't limping and your concern level is low, these steps should help manage the wound at home. However, if you notice any worsening of symptoms or if the swelling doesn't reduce, it would be wise to consult a veterinarian for further evaluation.
If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out. Thank you!
