Fleas

Was house sitting apparently the dog was just getting over fleas, must’ve taken them home because my dog Zeus currently has them even tho they have had contact. I’ve seen about less than 10 in the last 3 days checking about 2-3 times a day.

It sounds like Zeus has picked up some fleas, which can be quite uncomfortable for him. Since you've already noticed a few fleas and he's experiencing itching, it's important to address this promptly to prevent an infestation.

First, let's ensure that Zeus's flea treatment is up-to-date and applied correctly. Since he's already using flea collars and topical treatments, double-check that these are current. Sometimes, switching to a different product can be more effective if the current one isn't working well. You might also consider using an oral flea medication, which can quickly eliminate fleas.

Next, giving Zeus a bath with a flea shampoo can help remove fleas from his coat. Be sure to follow the instructions on the shampoo bottle carefully to ensure its effectiveness.

Using a flea comb can also be beneficial. This tool helps remove fleas from Zeus's fur, especially in areas where you've seen the most fleas, such as his underbelly, back legs, and armpits.

It's also crucial to address the home environment, as fleas can live in your home. Thoroughly vacuum carpets, rugs, and furniture, and wash any bedding or blankets that Zeus uses. You might also consider using a flea spray or fogger in your home to kill any remaining fleas and their eggs.

Finally, keep a close eye on Zeus and check him regularly for fleas. If you continue to see fleas or if his itching persists, it might be necessary to consult with a veterinarian for additional treatment options.

Since Zeus is experiencing itching and you've seen fleas, it's crucial to act quickly to prevent the situation from worsening. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Thank you.
