First, boil one cup of water and allow it to cool to room temperature. Then, add a quarter teaspoon of non-iodized salt to the water, stirring until it is completely dissolved. Once the solution is ready, use a clean dropper or a cotton ball to apply it to your dog's eye, ensuring that the solution is at room temperature before application.

To clean the area around the eye, gently use a soft cloth or a cotton ball soaked in the saline solution. Be cautious not to touch the eyeball itself. This cleaning process can be done once or twice a day. However, if you notice any worsening of symptoms or if there is no improvement, it is advisable to consult with a veterinarian.

For a convenient alternative, you might consider over-the-counter sterile saline eye wash solutions specifically designed for pets, which are available at most pet stores.
