Morty is an indoor/outdoor cat.
He is currently sharing a home with a female cat that is older and does not like him. He has been using the bathroom inside on the beds I think because he’s scared and I don’t know what to do. Any advice?

It sounds like Morty might be feeling stressed due to the dynamics with the older female cat. Cats are naturally territorial, and when they feel threatened or insecure, they might display behaviors such as inappropriate urination. Here are some steps you can take to help Morty feel more comfortable and reduce this behavior:

Firstly, it's important to create safe spaces for Morty. Ensure he has his own quiet areas where he can retreat without being disturbed by the other cat. This could be a separate room or a cozy spot equipped with his bed and toys.

Next, consider your litter box management. Make sure there are enough litter boxes in the house. A good rule of thumb is to have one more litter box than the number of cats you have. Place these boxes in different locations to give Morty options and minimize any competition.

Encouraging positive associations between the two cats can also be beneficial. Reward them with treats when they are calm around each other. You might also try feeding them simultaneously but at a distance, gradually bringing them closer over time.

You might want to consider using feline pheromone diffusers. These can help reduce stress and create a more calming environment for both cats.

Spending quality time playing with Morty can help him burn off energy and feel more secure. Interactive toys can be particularly engaging and beneficial.

Lastly, keep an eye on both cats' behavior. If the situation doesn't improve or worsens, consulting with a professional animal behaviorist might be helpful.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you.
