About 15 minutes ago, Eden was lying on my chest as I was sleeping. She was purring and happy, but I woke up to her chewing on my earring and then it was gone. I think she swallowed my earring. I’m not exactly sure what to do now! She’s so young and I was planning on having her first vet visit soon but I haven’t taken her yet. She’s never swallowed any foreign object before. The earring is a 7mm hoop and I’m nervous it won’t pass through.

It's completely understandable to be concerned when your kitten swallows something like an earring. Given her young age and the size of the earring, it's essential to monitor her closely for any signs of distress or complications.

Swallowing foreign objects can sometimes lead to blockages or injuries in the digestive tract. Here are a few things you should watch for:

- Vomiting or gagging
- Refusal to eat or drink
- Lethargy or unusual tiredness
- Abdominal pain or swelling
- Changes in bowel movements, such as constipation or diarrhea

If you notice any of these symptoms, it's crucial to seek veterinary care immediately, as they could indicate a blockage or other serious issue.

In the meantime, keep an eye on her behavior and try to ensure she stays hydrated. You can also check her litter box to see if the earring passes naturally. However, given the potential risks, I strongly recommend taking her to a veterinarian as soon as possible to ensure she receives the appropriate care and to prevent any complications.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you.
