Diarrhea in dogs can often be triggered by sudden changes in their diet, such as introducing new foods or switching to wet food without a gradual transition. The presence of red blood in the stool can sometimes accompany diarrhea due to irritation in the gastrointestinal tract. It's reassuring that your dog is still acting normally, playing, eating, and drinking, but it's crucial to keep a close eye on the situation.

Here are some steps you can take at home to help manage your dog's condition:

Firstly, consider returning to your dog's regular diet and refrain from giving any human food for the time being. If you plan to introduce new foods in the future, do so gradually over a week by mixing small amounts with their regular food to avoid any sudden changes.

Ensuring your dog stays well-hydrated is also important, as diarrhea can lead to dehydration. Make sure fresh water is always available for your dog to drink.

Keep an eye on your dog's stool. If the diarrhea continues for more than a couple of days, or if you notice an increase in the amount of blood, it would be wise to consult a veterinarian for further advice.

You might also consider resting your dog's stomach by withholding food for 12-24 hours to allow it to settle, while continuing to provide water. After this period, you can offer a bland diet, such as boiled chicken and rice, in small amounts to help ease their digestive system back to normal.

Since the diarrhea has been ongoing for a day and there is some blood present, it's important to monitor your dog closely. If the symptoms persist or worsen, or if you notice any changes in behavior or energy levels, seeking veterinary advice would be prudent.

If you have any further questions or need additional guidance, please feel free to reach out. Thank you.
