my cat pooped in his litter box and then pooped on the wall right after and had poop hanging from his anus and on his tail. he’s never done this before and his litter box is clean because i scoop it 2-3 times a day. he is about to be 5 months, and his litter should be big enough for him. i also did not change his litter, and he’s been doing just fine with the litter i buy him. the only thing i’ve done differently recently is feed him 4 times a day, half a can of wet food each time and also added rabbit bites as a toppers to his food. what could be the issue?

It sounds like your cat might be experiencing a mild digestive upset, possibly due to the recent changes in his diet. Introducing rabbit bites as toppers and increasing the frequency of feeding could have affected his digestion, leading to softer stools or incomplete bowel movements.

To help address this, you might want to consider a few things. First, when introducing any new food to your cat's diet, it's best to do so gradually. This allows his digestive system to adjust. If the rabbit bites are new, try reducing the amount or frequency to see if his bowel movements return to normal.

Additionally, keep an eye on the consistency of his stool. If it remains soft or turns into diarrhea, it might be worth reconsidering the recent dietary changes. Ensuring your cat is drinking enough water is also important, especially with the increased wet food intake, as proper hydration can aid digestion.

Since he had some poop hanging from his anus and tail, gently cleaning the area with a damp cloth can help prevent any irritation or infection. Also, observe his behavior for any changes, such as lethargy or loss of appetite, which could indicate a more serious issue.

If this behavior continues or you notice other concerning symptoms, it would be wise to consult a veterinarian to rule out any underlying issues. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you.
