Will

She can't put pressure on her front left leg. She's been taking joint supplements regularly. Noticed today a hard ... Mass or lump... On the upper joint of her front left leg ( what I would call the armpit). She also is becoming increasingly lethargic and overly protective of that leg. No noticeable loss in appetite, no noticeable change in behavior with exception to mentioned protectiveness of leg.

I'm sorry to hear about your dog's discomfort. The presence of a hard mass or lump in the area you described could be due to several reasons, such as a benign growth, a cyst, or possibly something more serious like a tumor. Given her age and the symptoms of lethargy and protectiveness over the leg, it's important to monitor her closely.

Here are a few steps you can take:

1. **Limit Activity**: Try to keep her activity level low to prevent further strain on the leg.

2. **Comfort and Support**: Provide a comfortable resting area and support her when she moves around.

3. **Monitor the Lump**: Keep an eye on the size and shape of the lump. Note any changes in color, size, or if it becomes painful to touch.

4. **Pain Management**: If she seems in pain, consult your vet about appropriate pain relief options.

Since she's showing signs of discomfort and lethargy, I recommend having her examined by a veterinarian. They can perform a physical examination and possibly imaging or a biopsy to determine the nature of the lump.

If you have any further questions please ask us. Thank you.
