My dog ate a small piece of fudge round. The whole piece she grabbed was about a little bigger then a quarter but I managed to fish most of it out of her mouth in time but I think she still swallowed a small piece

It's great that you were able to retrieve most of the fudge round from your dog's mouth. Chocolate, which is often found in fudge, can be toxic to dogs, particularly in large amounts. However, since your Chihuahua may have only ingested a small portion, especially if it was milk chocolate, the risk of toxicity is relatively low.

I recommend keeping an eye on her for any signs of chocolate toxicity. These can include symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, increased thirst, restlessness, or an elevated heart rate. If you observe any of these signs, it would be best to contact your veterinarian for further advice.

In the meantime, ensure she has access to plenty of fresh water and monitor her behavior closely. If she appears fine and doesn't exhibit any symptoms, she will likely be okay. Nevertheless, it's always a good idea to keep chocolate and similar foods out of reach to prevent any future incidents.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out. Thank you.
