Tokie is a main coon mix he is a years and 7 months old. 2 days ago Tokie got sick . 20 minutes later he got sick again. He didn’t eat but was drinking water. Then he slept all day. Yesterday morning Tokie got sick again and got sick through out the day. Tokie throw up 6 times. Tokie was drinking water but now that stopped. Tokie doesn’t want to eat or drink. 2 days before Tokie become ill we brought some antiques into the house. The antiques were covered with a layer of dust and remains of rat faeces. Aggggbout 2 days after Tokie became ill
It sounds like Tokie is going through some discomfort, and the situation with the antiques might be contributing to it. Frequent vomiting, especially when accompanied by a lack of appetite and reduced water intake, could indicate several issues, such as ingestion of something toxic, a gastrointestinal upset, or even an infection.
Considering Tokie's exposure to dust and potential rat feces, there's a chance of encountering harmful bacteria or toxins. It's crucial to ensure Tokie remains hydrated, as dehydration can quickly become a concern with frequent vomiting. You might try offering small amounts of water or an electrolyte solution specifically designed for pets to encourage drinking.
Keep a close eye on Tokie's behavior. If the vomiting continues or if Tokie still refuses food and water, it would be best to consult a veterinarian. They can conduct necessary tests to determine if there's an underlying issue, such as an infection or toxin exposure, that needs attention.
In the meantime, make sure Tokie is in a calm and comfortable environment, away from any potential irritants or toxins. If you observe any additional symptoms like lethargy, diarrhea, or changes in behavior, be sure to communicate these to a veterinarian, as they can provide further insight into Tokie's condition.
If you have any more questions or need further assistance, please feel free to reach out. Thank you.
If Tokie got sick from the antique doesn’t that mean that Gibby my dog would be sick as well because she is not she is well and in good health
It's important to remember that different animals can react differently to the same environmental factors. Tokie might have had more exposure to the dust or rat feces, or he could simply be more sensitive to certain substances than Gibby.
There are a few reasons why Gibby might not be showing any symptoms. Firstly, animals, much like people, have varying levels of sensitivity to potential toxins or irritants. Tokie might be more susceptible to whatever was on the antiques. Secondly, it's possible that Tokie had more direct contact with the dust or rat feces, leading to a higher level of exposure. Lastly, Tokie's current health status, immune system, or even stress levels could make him more prone to illness in this situation. The exact cause and condition can only be determined by examination.
While Gibby seems to be in good health, it's still a good idea to keep an eye on her for any signs of illness, just to be safe.
