Nova is usually very busy and very active. Today she is very calm, sleeping a lot or just laying around. I have noticed that she has gone into heat. I just want to know if going into heat can cause her behaviour to change from very busy to sleeping a lot.

Given that Nova is usually very active and is now showing a marked change in behavior, it's important to monitor her closely. While it's possible that her calmness and increased sleep are due to her being in heat, you should also watch for other signs that might indicate a health issue, such as a lack of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, or signs of discomfort when she moves.

If you notice any unusual discharge, a foul odor, or if Nova seems to be in pain, these could be signs of an infection or other medical issue that would require immediate veterinary attention. Additionally, if her lethargic behavior continues for more than a couple of days or if she shows other concerning symptoms like those mentioned above, it would be wise to take her to the clinic.

In conclusion, while a change in behavior can be normal during a dog's heat cycle, it's important to stay observant for any signs that could indicate a problem. Ensure she has a comfortable environment, keep her routine consistent, and protect her from unwanted pregnancies. If her behavior changes drastically or if she shows any signs of illness, don't hesitate to seek veterinary care.
